September is National Recovery Month

There are many resources available for individuals and families navigating recovery from substance use disorder. Some of these resources include 12-step groups, peer support groups, medication assisted recovery, physical fitness, podcasts, books, and supports for family members. Natick 180 is a community coalition that brings together a wide range of people and resources from around Natick to address the factors that contribute to addiction and to build up the community characteristics that protect against it, fostering community conversations about substance use and mental health that are driven by empathy, respect, science and data.

On Sept. 12th volunteers from SOAR Natick installed a powerful and important display recognizing the 971 people in Massachusetts who lost their life to an opioid overdose in 2025. Each purple flag represents one person. Those who have lost a loved one to overdose are invited to share their name and a message on red hearts which are part of the installation. This Purple Flags Display will be at the First Congregational Church of Natick, UCC from now until September 26th.
